Drawbridge nasce dal concorso di FSC Italia – Design award “La foresta in una stanza”. Il progetto è stato sviluppato nell’ambito del Laboratorio di Metaprogetto. L’obiettivo era quello di dare la possibilità all’utente di coltivare piante aromatiche anche all’interno di piccole abitazioni. Il progetto aveva inoltre come vincoli quelli di dover esaltare l’utilizzo del legno, materiale che è stato usando per quasi la totalità del progetto. Il progetto è pensato per sfruttare sia le caratteristiche estetiche che le caratteristiche fisiche del legno.
Drawbridge si presenta in due configurazioni: quella aperta in cui l’utente può raggiungere facilmente i vasi, con la possibilità di sfilare quest’ultimi dai supporti per poterli avvicinare ulteriormente alla zona di utilizzo; quella chiusa in cui l’oggetto occupa il minor spazio possibile. Grazie ai perni inseriti nel telaio i vasi sono liberi di ruotare e mantenersi sempre paralleli al pavimento, evitando così che essi possano ribaltarsi durante le fasi di apertura e di chiusura.

Drawbridge was born from the FSC Italia – Design award “The forest in one room”. The project has been developed during the Metadesign Laboratory. The design focus was to give to the user the possibility to grow some culinary herbs also in small house. The project had also the obligation to use and enhance the use of wood, material which has been used for almost the entire project. The project is developed in order to use both the wood’s aesthetic characteristics and physical one.
Drawbridge has two configuration: the open one in which the user can reach easily the vases, with the possibility to extract them from the supports in order take them closer to the kitchen; and the close one in which the product is less bulky. Thanks to the pivots inserted in the framework, the vase are free to rotate and keep themselves parallel to the ground, avoiding the possibility to tip over during the opening and closing procedure.
